ENGAGING AND ENCOUNTERING MINISTRIES

Encountering all people in their need for healing and wholeness in Christ.

DOMINION VILLAGE OUTREACH
This outreach opportunity is a powerful way to effect the lives of those at Dominion Village, a nearby Nursing Home. Participants meet once a month (usually the 3rd Thursday) at 1:30PM to sing hymns and share a devotion with the residents. This is a joint ministry with St. Stephen Lutheran Church.
Coordinator: Larry McReynolds

FAITH IN ACTION
King of Glory maintains a relationship with the Williamsburg Faith In Action, an interfaith coalition of volunteers existing to support individuals in need of a little help to live independently and who may be alone. WFIA works cooperatively with other agencies and is designed to compliment, not duplicate, existing services. It provides our congregation with a wonderful opportunity to serve.

FISH

The Lord has told us in His Word that “The King will reply, ‘I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for Me.’” (Matthew 25:40) God’s people are called to share the blessings they have been given with those who are in need. Our Church community participates in FISH, a Christian help organization in Williamsburg that aids those in need through food, clothing and service. FISH provides a wonderful opportunity to serve the Lord in many ways through food collection, clothes collection, as well as volunteer opportunities driving and working at the FISH headquarters).

FLOWER VISITATION MINISTRY
God’s people touching each other in love is one way to describe the visits made by the Altar Flower Visitation Ministry. The flowers are given for the worship service “to the Glory of God” and afterwards are brought by members of the Flower Visitation Ministry for the care and blessing of the ill, shut-in, or those in need of a friendly visit.

COLLEGE MINISTRY – KOG CHRISTIAN FELLOWSHIP
Begun as an outreach ministry to the College of William and Mary campus community, the King of Glory Christian Fellowship is an unique ministry designed to support and encourage college youth in their journey of faith. Local college students and those away from home are encouraged to attend church and grow in their faith by the ministries of mentors, drivers and cooks. Make an impact on the students who will impact their world and ours as they are strengthened in Christian faith and worship at this pivotal time in life.
Coordinators: Ev Brown and Julie Ligman

LIVING NATIVITY
The Living Nativity is a gospel-centered outreach which presents the story of Jesus’ birth to the community in a live, “tableau” fashion. Many volunteers of all ages are needed to serve in costume and “behind the scenes.” We use this opportunity to share invitations to our Christmas Worship celebrations.

MISSION TEAM
Taking the Good News of Jesus to all the ends of the earth – that’s what our Mission Team is all about! For several years, the Mission Team has traveled to Juneau, Alaska, to offer a creative Vacation Bible School to the members of a needy church in that community. Other Mission trips are being organized.

HOUSING PARTNERSHIP

PORCH CALL
Visitors and important to us! The Porch Call ministry is an opportunity for the King of Glory Church family to extend a personal invitation to our visitors. On the day of their visit to Worship at King of Glory, the visitor will be briefly visited by a team from King of Glory. Not a long visit…but simply a brief “porch call” at the door of their home, thanking them for worshipping with us and inviting them to come again. A wonderful ministry of welcome and hospitality!
Coordinator: Ann Lorish

PRAYER MINISTRY
The King of Glory community offers a number of different opportunities in Prayer Ministry: The Prayer Chain is a group of people who pass along, and prayer for, various prayer requests and needs throughout the week.  The Prayer Ministry also sponsors special Prayer Vigils from time to time throughout the year.
Coordinators: Faith Staples and Sue Quick

RETREATS
Every once in a while, it is good to “get away from it all” and spend some focused time on your walk with the Lord. Retreats are a good way to do that! Various groups within the King of Glory Family (Youth, LWML, families, etc) plan, organize and go on retreats throughout the year. Retreats can be day-long or weekend-long in duration. Whatever the time…it is time well spent! Watch for one that meets your needs!

STORYBOOK CONNECTION
King of Glory Lutheran Church participates in a special outreach ministry to people who are paying their debts to society in prison. Our mission is to help prisoners maintain contact with their families and loved ones (particularly children) who are separated from them during their period of incarceration.

On Saturdays, at 9:00 AM and 1:00 PM, volunteers from the congregation visit people incarcerated at the Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail in Williamsburg with tape recorders, blank tapes and reading materials. They assist those inmates who desire to keep in touch with their families, especially children missing contact with their father or mother, in the recording of their voices as they read stories or other items of mutual interest. The tape and books are then mailed directly to the family members.

You can be a part of this important missional and caring activity.

SENIOR CARE MINISTRY
The Senior Care Ministry at King of Glory provides resources and help for those in the “seasoned citizen” age group. Activities such as luncheons and trips are planned throughout the year. It provides opportunity for building Christian relationships, education and spiritual growth for all who are involved. The Senior Care Ministry also provides contacts with those who are homebound or who are in need of assistance.  If interested, contact the church.

CHRISTIAN FELLOWSHIP

Building relationships is an important part of what “church” is about! We are built up in our personal relationship in Christ Jesus, and we are bonded together in our relationship together in Christ. Getting together with Christian friends is important…and lots of fun, too! There are many times throughout the year that the King of Glory Community gathers together for fellowship:

OKTOBERFEST/FALL FESTIVAL
Join us as the members and friends of King of Glory kick up their heels! Whether we are celebrating Oktoberfest, or having a Chili Cook-off, this is a not-to-miss Fall Event. A great time for the whole family!
